Black Hawks in Afghanistan

[SSgt J. Peargin] The Black Hawks are critical
to many missions in Afghanistan, including medical evacuations,
cargo and personnel drops, and air support for ground forces.
A lot of the missions that we do as an air assault battalion are conducting
the deliberate assaults for the ground task force commander.
If there are specific targets that they want to get,
then we’ll bring the helo assault force to their objective within 30 seconds.
[Peargin] The Black Hawks and the air crews that fly them are extremely flexible
and are trained to adapt to every situation. [Kersbergen] Some of the additional things
that we may do to assist the ground force commander could
be convoy security and provide the convoys with some overwatch
as they are transitioning from FOB to FOB on the roads here in Afghanistan. [gunfire]
